About This Spot

Stepping into Talavera Restaurant feels like being invited into a warm, vibrant corner of New Windsor where the hum of genuine connection blends effortlessly with the enticing scents of slow-simmered sauces and fresh ingredients. This tucked-away gem carries a relaxed, homey atmosphere, a space where the rhythm slows just enough to savor the moments shared over food made with quiet care and deep-rooted tradition.

Here, the pace is gentle and unhurried—an invitation to sit back and let the day’s worries slip away as plates arrive, each one bearing the unmistakable imprint of lovingly prepared Mexican comfort fare. The space buzzes not with hurried service, but with the soft murmur of neighbors and friends sharing stories, laughter gently punctuating the air. There’s something deeply human in the way the owner and her family engage with guests, weaving a thread of warmth that feels almost like a quiet celebration of community.

The menu unfolds as an extension of that feeling—familiar yet textured with surprises. Dishes arrive with fresh, vibrant colors and comforting aromas, balancing time-honored flavors with a distinctive freshness. Whether it’s the rich layers in a traditional pambazo or the bright zest of guacamole made from scratch, each bite tells a story of care that goes beyond a simple meal. Guests often find themselves returning not just for the food but for the slow, joyful experience: savoring sips of homemade horchata, sharing crispy, golden tacos, and delighting in the satisfying crunch of freshly made totopos.

Talavera’s charm is in its authenticity—not just in its cooking, but in the way it invites guests to pause and relish simple, honest pleasures. It’s a place where good food naturally sparks genuine conversations, and where the spirit of hospitality is quietly but unmistakably present in every detail.

This place was absolutely DELICIOUS! Authentic Mexican cuisine with the freshest ingredients! Alexandra the owner and her daughter very sweet and such a pleasure to talk to. You can tell she cooks with love We ordered orchata to drink, the talavera nacho with chorizo(which she makes herself), guacamole( so fresh and flavorful), the sopes 1 chicken 1 pork and 1 chorizo(she also makes her own cheese), the guajillo marinated chicken, chicken enchiladas, and tacos! We were so full so we took flan to go! Everything was so good we will definitely come back next time we are in town!

Recommendation of a coworker and not bad at all. Was tied up and did pay too much attention to the menu. Ordered what everyone else did. Really good flavor. I just wished the onions were cooked and not raw. Portion of meat in the taco and avacado just fell out after every bite. Nice to have leftovers when the main meal was finished. I had carnitas, and my wife had the pollo tacos. She enjoyed the pollo and said it was seasoned well. No beens and rice this go round, but maybe next time. Checked the box and will visit again.

Came here for my partner's birthday, and it was delicious. Ordered a few different plates and tacos. Food was fresh, portions were generous, service was excellent. Will definitely be coming back with friends and family.

Amazing food from amazing people. The owner is an extremely friendly woman who loves what she does. We chatted with her for a few moments while awaiting our order and she shared that the menu is based on foods she personally loves and has high expectations for. It definitely shows as the tacos were amazing and the nachos speak for themselves, see below. 5 out of 5 will be returning.
